About CDC
Overview
The Jackson Public Schools Career Development Center (CDC) is Mississippi's premier Career and Technical Education program, serving students from all 6 JPS high schools in 23 career pathway programs. Coursework is conducted in classrooms and laboratories equipped to industry standards. As Mississippi's largest CTE programming center, our talented and industry-experienced instructors and team members provide scholars with world-class skills and knowledge using technology and state-of-the-art equipment related to their career and/or college aspirations. Scholars have the opportunity to earn industry certifications, dual credit, and the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate through enrollment of many of our courses. Work-Based Learning experiences are embedded throughout all coursework to ensure scholars have experiences connected with workforce opportunities in our community. Scholars are enrolled for two school years and earn 4 Carnegie units towards graduation upon completion.
On November 20, 2025, CDC was renamed to the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Career Development Center in honor of civil rights activists Medgar and Myrlie Evers.
